last nite

bf woke me up at 1:10am cause he smelled sth burning. He tried to figure out where it came from and left our apartment. He immediately came back and told me to get dressed cause the house was burning. While I did so, bf went outside the house and called the firemen. When lil one and me came outside the house the air was full of smoke. Then I realized that it wasn't our house which was burning but the house on the other side of the street, the one right in front of ours.
I heard bf yelling and trying to get everyone outside the burning house. No one inside the house realized that it was burning, they were all asleep til bf woke them up by ranging all the doorbells.
When bf came outside the house we saw two ppl at a window, a man and a woman. They were yelling that they would jump outside the window, that it was too hot and that they could feel the flames. We tried to soothe them that the firemen would be there soon to help them. It was right then when the police arrived. bf ran back into our house to get the huge ladder to help the ppl but the ladder was too short.
Three minutes later the firemen arrived.
After some trouble they've been able to save both of them. They are in a hospital now, having some serious burns on their backs, arms and legs.
Firemen then tried to stop the fire. We didn't know then that there was such a big fire because all u could see from the outside was smoke, a lot of smoke.
bf, lil one and me went back inside our apartment then. We were totally shoked about how much smoke there was. It took more than 3hours to fight the fire. The also had to remove some parts of the roof.
Police now tries to figure out what sparked the fire.
The chief inspector told me today that if bf would have smelled the smoke just 5minutes later there would have been no help for the ppl inside the house. Firemen even weren't able to find the dead animals inside the apartment. Everything was burned down to ashes.
It was just their luck, that our windows in our bedroom aren't sealed properly and that bf has a light sleep. Otherwise bf wouldn't have smelled the smoke.
